SIREN promotes and develops studies, researches and seminars in the field of neural networks.
Through the coordination of the activity of Italian groups carrying out neural networks research, SIREN's aim is that of favouring the development of an adequate cultural enviroment in order to qualify more extensively the Italian presence at the international level, as well as that of organizing the Italian participation in European projects.

Other qualified and professional contributions will be encouraged by developing human resources in this area, particularly those represented by young people, through an adequate use of scholarships and training funds (Art. 2 of SIREN's by-laws).

SIREN participated this year in the organization of the seventh annual researchers workshop on neural networks (WIRN), that took place in Vietri sul Mare (SA) in the headquarters of IIASS. SIREN sponsored several schools and workshops for researchers in the field of interest. Yearly, the "Eduardo Caianello" prize for the best doctorate thesis developed in Italy in neural networks scientific area is sponsored by IIASS.
