Enrico Francesconi received the Master Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Florence and the Ph.D. in Computer Science at the Computer Science Department (DSI) of the University of Florence.

In 2002 he joined the Institute of Legal Information Theory and Techniques of the Italian National Research Council (ITTIG-CNR), where currently he is a researcher.
His main research interests include knowledge representation, legal ontologies, legal standards and semantic markup, legal drafting, artificial intelligence techniques for legal document classification and knowledge extraction.
He is a member of the Italian and European working groups establishing XML and URI standards for legislation. He has been involved in various projects (as DALOS and SEAL) within the eParticipation framework (DG Information Society & Media) of the European Commission and for the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities (OPOCE).
