DAUDD Program

FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS

First International Workshop on
``Document Analysis and Understanding for Document Databases''
in conjunction with
10-th International Conference on Database and Expert System applications DEXA' 99
Florence, Italy, August 30 - September 3, 1999

Workshop date: September 1-2 1999

THEME

The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners from the field of document image analysis and understanding and from the field of document databases.

The decreasing cost of acquisition and storage devices makes achievable the storage of huge amounts of paper documents into an electronic form. On the other hand, in the last few years there was a new deal in techniques for document image analysis and understanding. There are now proposed solutions to the problem of extracting information from paper documents and storage of them in a way useful for the retrieval of interesting documents.

Contributions to this workshop are expected from both academic and industrial researchers, describing complete systems or new algorithms and techniques.

TOPICS

We invite papers that are related (but not limited) to the following areas of interest.

Layout analysis & representation Form & invoice processing
Document modeling Document classification
Document storage and retrieval Document indexing
Retrieval by content Document query language
